Landscape, Agriculture, Water Resources
25% of the total area is high plain. The high plain includes areas located at an altitude of 25 to 60 meters above sea level. 35% of the land area is slopes. These are the areas that connect the high areas with the valley. About 30% of the area is valley. These are the areas that separate the sloping area and the coastal plain. Ten percent of the total land area is coastal plain. A good percentage of the areas of Manambur panchayat, which was an agricultural area, were cultivated in the early part of this century. The agricultural land was mainly in the hands of Brahmins, temple dwellers and their dependents. As a result of the coming into force of the Land Act, the common people who were occupying the lands that belonged to the Brahmins, Devaswoms and Pandarams got land. This increased the production and efficiency of the agricultural sector. But later this situation changed. As a result of the general growth of a view that was not oriented towards agricultural work in Kerala, this village was also affected. The surface water sources of the panchayat are 6300 meters of streams flowing in various parts of the panchayat, 14 ponds and some parts of the Moongode Lake. Of these, fishing is done in parts of the Moongode Lake.
Basic sectors
Industry:-
The traditional industries of this village, coir and handloom industries, were once the main means of livelihood of the villagers. But handloom has almost completely disappeared today. The coir industry is the only one that still exists. That too has been reduced to a minimum. The condition of this village in the industrial sector is very deplorable today. There are no large-scale industries in this village. There are small units of coir, handloom (very limited), and dairy farming in the cooperative sector.
Transportation:-
Although the main mode of transportation in the panchayat is road transport, water transport is also marginal. In the past, coir products and other products from here were transported to Alappuzha and other places through the coastal waterway.
Public Health:-
In this village, which is rich in rivers and ponds, Ayurveda, Sanskrit, wrestling, and martial arts all existed hand in hand. This village was the land of doctors. Ayurveda may have gained this importance from the Sanskrit tradition. Most of the doctors were Ezhava doctors. The main health institutions in the village today are a primary health centre established in 1962 and located in ward 7, three sub-centres located in wards 3, 8 and 10, and an Ayurvedic hospital in ward 10.
Education
The activities and contributions of the Thiruvi Thamkur dynasty had a significant impact on the progress of education in Manamboor panchayat, near Attingal, which was once the headquarters of Venad. Kudippallykoodams were established in the panchayat to provide informal education. Records show that the great poet Kumaranasan taught in the Kudippallykoodam established by Govindanasan at a place called Vazhamkode near the Manamboor Subrahmanya temple. The Pen Pallikoodam run by Ramakrishna Pillai at Kavala Yoor Kallara house and the Kudippallykoodam run by Manamboor Ramu Ashan made significant contributions to the progress of education in the panchayat. It can be seen that educational activities were being carried out in the panchayat long before independence. The first school in the panchayat was the government primary school established in Kavalayoor in the 1920s. Later, it was upgraded to a UP school and in 1964 to a high school. The land required for upgrading to a UP school was donated by the Mathkars of Idaavayanam, accepting only one wheel as the price. The land, building and equipment required for the high school were donated by the locals.
Major Institutions
Many institutions are functioning in this village under the categories of health, education, rural development, local self-government, social welfare, revenue, energy, registration, animal husbandry, agriculture, finance and culture. The Gram Panchayat Office, Village and Sub-Registrar offices, and Federal Bank, which are located in a rented building and are located in Kavalayoor, make Kavalayoor the most important area in the panchayat. There are 5 schools in the government/aided categories, including a high school, two UP schools and two LP schools located in Kavalayoor, one PHC and 3 sub-centers.
